An award winning, innovative Finance Director with experience of managing transformational change across a range of support service areas and national reputation for excellence. 

 

Deputy Chief Executive and Treasurer to a local authority through a period of extensive change and cost reduction that saw savings of over £35m whilst organisational performance and outcomes improved. Led a major change programme for estates that improved services to the public and facilities for staff  including : -a Northwest wide £40m PFI project for 16 new fire stations including developing shared service arrangements A £10m Joint Command and Control Centre for Merseyside alongside a major HQ refurbishmentNew £6m Vehicle WorkshopsA unique £6m joint Fire Station/Youth Zone –Toxteth Firefit Hub  

 

I created and have led the Fire Finance Network (a network for treasurers and finance professionals) since 2003.  

 

Financial advisor to the Local Government Association and the Employers National Joint Council on Firefighter pay. Board member of the Chief Fire Officer’s Association including lead responsibility for the development, publication and implementation of a national procurement strategy for the English Fire and Rescue Service. 

 

An excellent communicator of the “story behind the numbers” I enjoy presenting complex financial positions in an understandable way and regularly contribute to national conferences. 

 

A strong believer in housing as a catalyst for neighbourhood regeneration I have been a voluntary board member for a variety of housing organisations  - including Plus Dane Housing Group,  the Merseyside Housing Market Renewal Programme and  Alpha Homes.
